To whom much is given, from him much will be required

Building Projects

We take for granted that we have a roof over our heads and a place to worship. In many parts of the world, the cost of building a small church is more than the people can bear. But this amount is so small for us! Our funds go a long way in providing a safe place of worship for those that come to the Lord.

With just a little effort and funding, we can make such a big difference!  Only $5000 can build a church in Africa.  $15,000 can build an entire church or school in Belize.  We provide the funds that we can (in conjunction with the local churches) and offer our services as workers for Christ.  Often it is our labor that is needed the most to finish these building projects!

We structure our building mission trips (mostly to Central America) with a focus on both building of physical buildings as well as building relationships for eternity.  Because of the shorter travel times, and availability of both medical care and construction materials and skills, we structure our Central America trips to allow families and teens to join in and experience the blessings of helping others build churches, schools, and other similar projects.

At Grow Missions, we believe that Jesus’ last words to the disciples (Matthew 28:19) are our rally call to service.  “Go ye therefore” is our commission and call to action!  We apply this call to action to both teaching and preaching as well as to our efforts to take our support to those areas were we can help further the cause in the building of a new worship center.  While most of our volunteer team will be actively involved in a building project (usually working with concrete and block construction), others will help by supporting children’s ministry projects, or working with our speakers for the adult evangelism projects.

Our volunteer teams are responsible for financing their own airfare and then will be given a budget for joining our trip.  This budget includes the cost of lodging, transportation, materials for the construction site, and expenses for a fun day.   This usually is about $600 per person.  We will coordinate all travel times and arrangements with each person, family, or group to insure all arrive safe at our residence location.

Grow Missions will manage and provide building materials for the site work as agreed with the local pastors and coordinators.  We also will provide all required speaking materials and notes and projectors for evangelical or children’s programs. As in any mission trip, all we ask is that you come with a willing heart and desire to serve the Lord with an open and loving attitude.  We hope you can join us soon!  Check our upcoming events page for more trip details!

We can build an entire church for very little!

What is a typical day for a volunteer on a mission building project?

We start each morning with Bible study and prayer and then all of the mission team will share a meal together.  We eat all of our meals together and often have our meals prepared by local church volunteers.  We may eat at the work site or at our hotel, but we know the food is always healthy and very tasty!  We can accommodate special requests if made in advance.  After our morning meal we will usually walk to our work site (drive if required) and get right into the days work.  Our work is physical and demanding, but we still have fun and always provide a witness to those we serve and those in the surrounding communities.  Work ranges from digging ditches, to mixing concrete, carrying concrete blocks, painting, cleaning, making metal forms and frames, and virtually any other work required to build a place of study or worship.  It is hard work, but we make sure we all have plenty of water, get rest as needed, support each other, and just have fun.  We will eat lunch at our work site and then after a long day travel back to our hotel for rest.  Some days we will have nightly evangelistic meetings and always ask our building crews to support these efforts as possible.  This is just another way to get out into the community and be a witness for Christ.  Note: we always travel as a group, and always have adult supervision for all activities and events.
