Why should you care?
Every three seconds, somewhere in our world, a child dies because they are too poor to live. Every 15 seconds, one of those children is dying from something as preventable as diarrhea.
In an era of unprecedented global wealth, four out of every five people on the planet do not have access to running water. Those that have running water, utilize almost 28X as much water as those that need to collect theirs in streams and puddles.
Almost half the world's population lives on less than a dollar a day ($1). One million people every year die from malaria – a mosquito bite. Few families own mosquio nets - those that do often share just one per family.
In Africa, 5,500 die every day from AIDS. A third of rural households are female-headed, and as many as 60% of these have no male support.
The statistics on Global Poverty are endless and mind-numbing. But there is hope and we are the generation that can end extreme poverty forever.
